Manama: In support of Bahrain’s national goals to expand green areas and plant trees that are commensurate with its climate, which contribute to the absorption of carbon emissions and mitigate the effects of climate change and as part of its commitment towards societal partnership with several institutions serving the community, Bahrain National Holding Company and its subsidiaries, Bahrain National Insurance (bni) and Bahrain National Life Insurance (bnl), in collaboration with the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD), organized an environmental event to plant more than 55 trees and shrubs over a distance of 360 linear meters at Sitra walkway.

This event comes as part of the objectives of the second phase of the national afforestation campaign “Forever Green” and an implementation of the lofty visions of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King and Chairperson of NIAD Advisory Council, which aspires to expand the Kingdom’s green area and encourage youth to volunteer in the field of agriculture.

The Group’s staff and families volunteered to plant trees and shrubs across Sitra Walkway, which varied between 35 Hibiscus Tiliatus trees and 15 neem trees, and others which will add to the walkway a picturesque view, form a natural windbreak, and provide shade to the area, especially since the trees planted are distinguished for being of perennial nature, which will contribute to achieving social and environmental sustainability.

The generous support provided by the Bahrain National Holding Company and its subsidiaries included several vital sites, the most important of which are the afforestation of part of Al-Hidd Street, Dry Dock Park and Al-Banna Park in Muharraq, based on the Group’s firm keenness to secure an environment that supports sustainable development, stimulate green economic growth, and support the Kingdom of Bahrain strategies in facing challenges climatic.
